Reconstruction lasts longer than intended
Enterprise students were last able to enter the courtyard Spring 2016.
In 2007, a tornado destroyed Enterprise’s previous high school.
Three years later, a new $93 million dollar high school was opened.
Roof leaks were experienced soon after the new high school was opened, but when bricks began separating and cast stone began cracking, the school knew there was an issue in the construction.
The Enterprise City School system filed a lawsuit against the general contractor, Brasfield and Gorrie.
Brasfield and Gorrie agreed to fix all cast stone issues and leaks.
Repairs began June 2018 and several areas of the school have been blocked off until reconstruction is finished.
Enterprise High School students can now only enter through the gym doors, making it difficult to get to classes quickly.
The high school courtyard is also still closed for reconstruction, even though it was originally set to reopen at the end of the school year last year.
The new open date for the courtyard is after Christmas break, but it looks as if there is still a lot of work to be done.
