Cheer takes on state
The Wildcat Competition Cheer Squad earned a 3rd place finish Nov. 18 at the 2017 state championship in Hanceville.
The Wildcat squad was trying to bounce back from a poor performance in the weeks before at the National Peanut Festival competition and hoped that the personnel and routine changes made by Coach Amber Ensley would give them a spark to compete at a level worthy of the team’s 11th place finish at last year’s National competition.
The Wildcats pulled off a next to perfect performance and was a crowd favorite to win the competition.
However, the judges did not see it the way the crowd and competitors did and penalized Enterprise for routine difficulty and synchronization.
Power houses Vestavia Hills and Hoover had falls in their routine, but still edged out the Wildcats. The Enterprise squad finished 3rd overall in the 7A competition.
The team will compete December 9 in the Regional High School Cheer championships and has high hopes of finishing well enough to make another run at the coveted “White Jacket” at Nationals that will be held at the ESPN Wild World of Sports in Orlando, Florida, in February.
