The moment you realize
You sat in class on the day of the homecoming dance, tapping your foot incessantly. You were nervous to say the least, but you were more concerned with where your brother, Peter, was.
“Where r u?” You texted Peter for the umpteenth time with no reply.
“Am I boring you, Y/N?” Your teacher asked.
“Uh, no, no, sorry…” You stuttered.
“May I continue?” Your teacher asked sarcastically.
“Ye-yeah…”
You ducked your head, and wrote the notes that appeared on the board as your teacher continued the PowerPoint.
“Hey,” Ned whispered to you. “Where’s Peter?”
You shrugged your shoulders, not wanting to speak another word in class.
When class ended, you and Ned walked into the hallway where Peter ran down the hall in a frenzy, tripping over his own feet.
“Peter, where were you?” You growled angrily.
“Yeah, Peter, you got Y/N into serious trouble with our teacher,” Ned added.
“I’m sorry, Y/N,” Peter apologized, “I, uh, had somethings to take care of…”
“What are you talking about?” You asked. “What happened? Are you okay?”
You worried constantly about your brother. Your very awkward brother. Peter looked around frantically searching for some kind of answer, but could not find one that would satisfy you enough to get over your embarrassment from the previous class.
Out of nowhere, the world started to shake and most people around you all started to panic while others remained calm. Peter, on the other hand, looked around frantically as if he were looking for something or someone. Suddenly, the school started to collect with dust as an explosion caused every student to run in terror.
Peter grabbed you quickly, shielding you from danger.
“Protect, Y/N,” Peter told Ned, to which the friend replied with a silent nod.
Peter ran towards the explosion, making your jaw drop.
“Peter!” You screamed as you tried to run to him, but Ned grabbed you and pulled you back down.
“Just trust him,” He told you.
“No, Peter!” You screamed after him.
Red and blue rushed around as, what looked like, a giant rhino attacked the school building and several students. You recognized the blur of red and blue as the one and only Spiderman.
Things started to fall into place in your mind. Peter Parker, your brother, was THE Spiderman.
“Peter!” You called again, only in anger that he would keep that a secret.
“He’ll be okay,” Ned said reassuringly.
Peter was able to restrain the rhino with his webs then fell onto his feet in front of you.
“You are in so much trouble,” You growled.
“I know,” He said, taking your hand, “But first, I’m going to get you out of here.”
Suddenly you were in the air, swinging from building to building. When you were on solid ground, Peter took off his mask and looked solemnly at the ground.
“Peter,” You started. “I won’t tell Aunt May.”
Peter’s face perked up.
“But,” I continued, “You are staying home for homecoming and explaining everything to me, you understand?”
“Yeah, Y/N, I understand,” Peter sighed.
“Good, now, let’s go home so you can start your story, and maybe, you can finish in time to catch the last part of the dance.”
Peter smiled and nodded excitedly. He went to grab your hand again for another web slinging adventure, but you stopped him.
“We’re never doing that again.”
He laughed and we walked all the way home where, thankfully, Aunt May was nowhere to be seen.
