It looks like fall has fallen! Along with the crisp, cool air and autumn leaves, the change of season includes various fall related activities that many can look forward to as the autumn season commences. There’s always the seasonal craze over college football; however, many overlook the most enjoyable local activities that truly capture the essence of autumn.

Aplin Farms is a great place to experience fall in the Southeast. This family owned and operated farm hosts a wide array of autumnal activities including U-pick pumpkin patches, fall festivities, and much more. It is here that locals can satisfy their maze-craze by roaming Aplin Farms’ popular Corn Maze. Wagon rides, petting zoos, and sunflower fields are also highly praised attractions hosted on the farm grounds.

But the festivities continue with the trademark of the spooky season; haunted houses are on their way for those who enjoy a late-night thrill. These creepy cravings can be met by the infamous Columbia Manor, a 154 year old house located in Columbia, Alabama that was originally used as a hospital to quarantine Pellagra patients but is now currently recognized as one the most popular haunted houses in the state. The thrill of attending a haunted house is not unattainable for those who wish to keep it close to home as the Enterprise Career and Technology Center is hosting its own haunted house on College Street October 12th and 13th beginning at 7pm.

For the faint of heart, excitement can be found beyond being spooked as the kickoff of festival season is soon to come. The National Peanut Festival is an annual event where fair-goers from all across the country come to devour their favorite fair food, enjoy a classic game of balloon darts, and hitch a ride on the tilt-a-whirl. This season has plenty of fall festivities, so be sure to enjoy all that the local area has to offer!
