Girls basketball starts strong

The varsity Lady Cats started their season with a 2-1 record at the St. James tournament November 9-10 in Montgomery, Alabama.

EHS defeated Geneva to advance to the semifinals to get another win against St. Paul, but came up short in the championship to Park Crossing.

The Lady Cats also won their regular season opener against Ashford November 16, winning decisively 55-11, with Alehzia McClain contributing 12 points.

They also traveled to Fort Walton to take on Fort Walton High School, but fell to them 46-32. The Lady Cats hosted Headland November 27 and won 53-38, with Gwen Mitchell tallying 25 points.

The Lady Cats then traveled to Carroll November 30 and won 57-38, as Gwen Mitchell had another great game putting up 25 points.

They also traveled to Charles Henderson and lost 53-22, which has their record sitting at 5-3.

So far, the leading scorer for the Lady Cats has been Gwen Mitchell, who has tallied 25 points twice, 15 points and 10 points in seperate games.

The JV Lady Cats have started off their season 2-3, picking up wins against Northview 34-32, and against Dothan 25-18.

Their losses have came against Northview at home 45-30, Eufaula 58-25, and to Fort Walton 56-14.

Both of the Lady Cats teams will seek to keep playing at a high level and continue to add wins as the season goes on.
