Wildcats welcome new coach

EHS made their final decision December 6 on the new head football coach.

Enterprise City Schools Board of Education named Rick Darlington as the Wildcats head coach for the upcoming season.

Darlington is a retired football coach from Apopka, FL, where he was the head coach at Apopka High School.

Darlington introduced himself to the 9th-11th  grade football players December 6, during the players’ fourth block.

“Sit up and take that hat off,” Coach Darlington said as he walked into the PAC.

Coach Darlington believes in order to be a good player, the student must be  an obedient and respectful man on and off the field.

“You all will learn how to be the best team in Alabama, but you’re also [going to] learn how to respect your teachers, your parents, your teammates, and your little girlfriend,” said Coach Darlington.

Coach Darlington’s hopes for this upcoming season is to make the Wildcats not only a state championship team, but also a brotherhood.

“I’m [going to] condition y’all to be a state championship team, but we’re [going to] work on being a family,” Coach Darlington said. “We can’t win as a team if we don’t work as a family; this is a brotherhood.”

The players are excited for this off and upcoming season to get to know their new coach and the techniques that he’ll teach them.

“I think this will be good for the team you know, having someone that hasn’t seen us grown up in the program,” KD McCray, middle linebacker, said. “He could probably see something in us that our other coaches haven’t and allow us to strengthen our skills.”

Coach Darlington ended his introduction by letting the team know that he is excited to be working with them this season.

“I’ll let you all go back to class, but make sure to condition during your Christmas break because we will be working hard when we come back in January Thank you for this opportunity to be your head coach,” Coach Darlington said.
