Homecoming do’s & don’t’s
The EHS Homecoming dance is coming up September 28, and students are filled with both excitement and nerves while making plans.
Tickets cost $20 each and are being sold during lunch until September 27.
Students won’t be able to buy tickets at the door when they get to the dance.
Homecoming starts at 6:30 pm (pictures at 6:15 pm) Saturday night and ends at 10:30 pm.
To make the most out of this memorable night here are some tips:
- Homecoming Proposals
DO: If you are asking someone to be your date, be thoughtful. Know what their favorite things are to give them like flowers, candy, and use a pun or line from their favorite movie, TV show, or song to make a great poster.
Ask at the right time: a week or two before the dance and in front of the right people.
For example, junior Madisen James was asked at her first cross country meet by Jace Marshburn.
She said, “He and my friends came to support me, and he made a sign that said ‘Will you run with me to HOCO?’ I almost cried because I was exhausted from the run and fell into his arms. I was so happy.”
He also gave her flowers and a Minecraft LEGO set (an inside joke) that sealed the deal.
DON’T: Ask someone over text or social media.
- Going With A Friend Group
DO: Surround yourself with positive friends who you are comfortable with and will have fun dancing beside.
Senior Kennedy Caldwell said “Having a date is not necessary and don’t wait for other people to dance.”
DON’T: Be pressured to do whatever one person plans for the whole group. Don’t go in a group with anyone you know will cause drama.
- Shopping For What To Wear
DO: Have an idea of what you’re looking for. Check out as many different stores, boutiques, and malls that you can.
Accessorize! Try on what you like and even what you think you couldn’t pull off at first. Be bold and comfortable.
Be careful when shopping online.
DON’T: Try to wear what everyone else is wearing or be afraid of what people will think.
Don’t wear anything you feel self-conscious in or will have to constantly fix.
Try not to be last minute getting what you are going to wear.
