Where do you stand?

Students are distraught about the lack of FLEX and a break this year.

“FLEX helped us with a lot of things. We had club meetings, [we] could do our homework, and I just feel like we needed [that] break,” said junior Harmony Baker.

“I think for athletes and people who do extracurricular activities, it helped a lot. They’re super busy and might not have time to [do things] before or after school . FLEX [and] break helped,” said junior Jocelyn Jones.

“It’s dumb that we don’t have FLEX. We have longer school days [and] we don’t have a break. Students really need FLEX because that’s when we usually do our homework. [When] student athletes get home from practice, we don’t have time to do homework and we get penalized for [it],” said junior Sarah Winekoff.

“[I think it’s] very unfair. It was a very essential part of my day so I could study,” said junior Julia Dobras.

“I disagree with it strongly because you can’t add ten minutes to school, get rid of our break, lose more time at lunch just to add more time to our day. Why would you take away time at lunch? We barely have enough time to eat as it is. I think we should have a joined lunch break, where everyone has the same lunch period and they allow us to leave campus to go eat lunch,” said senior Henry Templin.

“Honestly, I’m kind of mad about it, but I understand where the [school board is] coming from because a lot of kids didn’t use it wisely. I definitely do miss it and wish they would bring it back,” said senior Austyn Higgs.
