Check mate

Enterprise High School now features a Chess Club open to all students. 

EHS Junior Logan Pertuit is the Chess Club President. Mr. Manasco is the club’s sponsor. 

Pertuit “came to love the game of chess and had the idea of creating a chess club” during a band trip. 

The club already had its first meeting November 5th in room A372, but students who are interested are still welcome to join. 

Chess Club meets Monday after school, usually with an attendance of around 10 to 20 students. 

EHS Junior Brian Johnson, a member of Chess Club, said during meetings they mainly “play chess against each other.”

“The [people] in the club are really smart,” Johnson said.

Due to closed openings for competitions, the club will not be able to attend this year. They look forward to competing next year.
