JROTC excels in competition

EHS Wildcats JROTC Wildcat Battalion Drill, Academic, Physical Fitness and Rifle Teams competed November 2 in the Pell City Invitational.

Every team made their mark as they earned the first place commander’s trophy.

JROTC racked up on individual team wins.

Physical Fitness Team 1 finished 1st in the Pell City Invitational with their Physical Fitness Team 2 coming in right behind them for 2nd place.

“We did extremely well. We had to get on the bus at 4:30 a.m., so everyone was tired, but we all had to move past that and compete against some pretty good schools,” senior Colby Clark said.

The Physical Fitness Team is commanded by Colby Clark who was the overall male winner for the day.

The EHS JROTC Academic Team, commanded by Joshua Rodriguez, placed second in the competition.

The Belles of the Blue Knights Drill Team, commanded by Amber Mayse, won several awards.

The team won first in the Platoon Unarmed inspection, first for the Platoon Exhibition Unarmed, and second in Platoon Exhibition Armed category.

The Belles of the Blue Knights Color Guard placed second for the Unarmed Color Guard and third in the Armed Color Guard competitions.

The Belles of the Blue Knights is commanded by Rachel McCarty.

The Blue Knights Drill Team, commanded by Edward Howell, placed first in the Platoon Exhibition Unarmed.

The Blue Knights Color Guard, commanded by Cory Wise, placed first in the Unarmed Color Guard category and second in the Armed Color Guard category.

 The EHS Cadets showed up and competed to the best of their ability.

Needless to say, it paid off .
