
XC competes at state
EHS Cross Country competed November 9 in the AHSAA XC State Championship.
The competition took place in Oakville, AL at the Oakville Indian Mounds Park.
Six boys placed in the Boys 5k Run for the 7A category.
Senior Tyler Rathburn placed 66th with a time of 17:10.97.
He held the fastest time in the boys’ 5k category out of all the boys competing from EHS.
Another EHS Cross Country student, Sophomore Brett Tessay, finished 67th directly behind Rathburn with a time of 17:11.04.
These two students did extremely well as there were 182 competitors in their category.
Along with the 6 boys who placed in the individual running event, the EHS Men’s team rank for the 5k category was 13th with an amazing time of 1:27: 46.01!
For the EHS Cross Country girls in their 5k category, 8 of them placed.
Our top two scorers out of 177 contestants were junior Natalie Warner coming in 45th and seventh grade student Stella Retherford coming in 57th.
Warner finished with a time of 20:22.63, and Retherford finished with a time of 20:45.63.
The girls’ 5k team finished 12th out of 16th in their category with a time of 1:47:31.75.
“I think everyone tried their hardest, and I am happy with the results that came out of the race” team member Amadeua Thompson said.
