Students give their advice

As the fall semester of 2019 comes to an end December 19, many students want to skip the stress of finals and go straight to holiday break.

Regardless of how easy going or difficult the grade you are in feels, someone has gone through the same thing you are right now.

It may seem like the other classes are against you because of how competitive it gets for the spirit stick at pep rallies or harsh words about underclassmen, but many fellow students would not want you to go through the same things they did.

Freshman year for many of us has many awkward transitions and learning curves.

Sophomore Analise Azan said,  “Advice I would give to a freshman would be that they need to keep up with their work to avoid getting behind and make sure they know what is being taught in class because you will be better prepared for the test. You also don’t need a boyfriend or girlfriend. They can be distracting, but if the time is right, then go ahead.”

Junior Makayla Thomas was the homecoming attendant her sophomore year and keeps up with her job, drama club, and SGA.

“Sophomores, choose your classes very wisely. If you have a lot going on such as a job, sports, etc., make sure you know how to balance your time. It’s extremely hard to deal with school in addition to extracurricular activities, but you got this! I have your back if you need help getting through it because we’re all in this together. Also stay true to who you are and surround yourself with people that make you happy,” Thomas said.

Senior Makayla Harvey said, “Get ready for a lot of classwork because a lot happens junior year. Remember to work through everything that you need, and do not wear yourself thin. I know from experience that rest and sleep and knowing when to stop is very important. Also, holding back parts of yourself to impress someone won’t do anything for a relationship.”

Senior year is filled with deadlines, filling out applications, and dates that make lasting memories.

Caeley Jones graduated an honors student last spring and is now a freshman at The Savannah College of Art and Design.

Jones said, “Calm down and enjoy your last moments of high school.¨

Take time to reflect for an even better semester in 2020.
