Have we got a show for you!

This competition season has been intense for Enterprise’s show choir groups Esprit* and Encores**.

Trying to stay ahead of the game, both groups learned their full shows (meaning all the choreography, vocals, and positions) earlier than ever.

Mrs. Weiler, their director, has been cementing vocals into the minds of her students from the first day of school, so that, by the end of August, each performer knew the full score of his or her show.

Senior Christina Haken said, “We compete at four competitions each year and travel around the United States for our performances, including Carnegie Hall in New York; Chicago, Illinois; and Orlando, Florida.”

The score of a show is usually centered on a specific theme, concept, or even historical period.

Portraying the concept of girl power, the women’s ensemble illustrates how independence is cultivated through self-reflection to achieve one’s personal desires. Each of Esprit’s songs is selected from a female artist and power icon.

Although each song is not chosen from a specific, meaningful artist, Encores’s show still manages a meaningful—and personal—score.

Enterprise itself is the center of the Encores’s show. The mixed group focuses on the people that created their home, specifically their home in southern Alabama.

For the choral seniors, this show is touching.

“It has been especially moving knowing that each performance and activity we participate in will be last as a member… Even though everybody is exhausted from the long rehearsals and late night competitions, I would not give it up for anything!“ Haken said.
